New, free online resources and training on caring for audio materials, aimed at non-specialist collection holders.
Sound recording technology has been with us for well over a century, and it’s extremely common to find small quantities of tapes, discs and other formats in gallery, library, archive and museum collections around the UK and beyond, often held as part of larger, more traditional collections.

Broadcast media organisations are custodians of social-cultural experiences captured in audio-visual content. And as broadcasting platforms turns digital, there is the urgent need for legacy audio-visual content to be appropriately preserved for the benefit of society both presently and in the future.

In the spring of 2021, for the sixth FIAF Winter School, FIAF joins forces with the Cinémathèque française and the Fondation Jérôme Seydoux-Pathé to offer a short training course aimed primarily at professionals in FIAF archives and beyond. The general theme of this specialized course is still “Programming Film Heritage”, and will once again be taught by experienced professionals from our sector, most of them programmers in film archives affiliated to FIAF.

The International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA) is delighted to announce the launch of the IASA Preservation Training Programme.
