Our gramophone museum and records archive is celebrating it’s very first anniversary on 25th January 2016. It is indeed a suitable occasion for like-minded enthusiasts like us to have a get together, right inside the museum! Hence, a two day Seminar cum practical workshop program has been scheduled for the 24th & 25th January 2016.

My collection of more than 200 gramophones and nearly 100,000 records are being moved into a new building in Plassanal, Kerala, India. Inauguration of the Museum cum Archive is scheduled for 26th January 2015. A seminar will be conducted on 25th and 26th January.

Discovery Access Methods for Sound Recording Collections

The Education and Training Committee of the Association for Recorded Sound Collections presents "Discovery Access Methods for Sound Recording Collections." The workshop will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., at the Kansas City Marriott Country Club Plaza, Kansas City,
Missouri.

This day-long workshop brings together professionals from a variety of backgrounds to discuss how audio resources can be found -- and made findable
-- in libraries, archives, digital collections, and discographies.

Help needed: pre-1927 sounds and images of black people in Europe

URGENT Call for help.

"Black Europe - The first comprehensive documentation of the sounds and images of black people in Europe pre-1927": Some 2000 recordings on phonograph cylinders, gramophone discs and films, with both still and moving images, featured people of African descent in Europe from the earliest years of the recording industry to immediately after the First World War. Many artefacts may be lost forever, but this effort is to trace and analyze the surviving evidence, and re-issue them all. Please check our comprehensive wants list at -
