13 February is a date proclaimed by UNESCO to celebrate radio broadcast, improve international cooperation among radio broadcasters and encourage decision-makers to create and provide access to information through radio, including community radios.

It’s an occasion to draw attention to the unique value of radio, which remains the medium to reach the widest audience and is currently taking up new technological forms and devices.

The Memory of the World in the Digital Age: Digitization & Preservation

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the UNESCO Memory of the World Program, UNESCO, in collaboration with the School of Library, Archival and Information Studies and the University Library of the University of British Columbia, and in partnership with ICA, IFLA, IASA, ICOM, WIPO, Google, MIcrosoft and others, is holding an international conference on "The Memory of the World in the Digital Age: Digitization and Preservation" on September 26-28, 2012 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

UNESCO World Day for Audiovisual Heritage

Just a friendly reminder that October 27, 2011 is UNESCO's 5th Annual World Day for Audiovisual Heritage! This years theme is "Audiovisual Heritage: See, Hear and Learn". If you are planning an event - even minor - please send the information and links (if relevant) to me at editor@iasa-web.org. All events received before October 17, 2011 shall be listed on the IASA website.

Fourth International Memory of the World Conference

The Fourth International Conference of the UNESCO Memory of the World Programme will be held from 18 to 21 May 2011 in Warsaw, Poland.

It is being jointly organized by the Polish National Commission for UNESCO, the Polish Committee of the Memory of the World Programme, the Head Office of State Archives and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
