The International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA) Technical Committee focuses on all technical aspects of sound and audiovisual recordings including care and handling, recording processes, transfer and digitisation technologies, standards and storage technologies, software and carriers. Some of its well-known publications include

  • IASA-TC 03 (2017) The Safeguarding of the Audiovisual Heritage: Ethics, Principles and Preservation Strategy
  • IASA-TC 04 (2009) Guidelines on the Production and Preservation of Digital Audio Objects
  • IASA-TC 05 (2014) Handling and Storage of Audio and Video Carriers

In this one-hour webinar, the panellists will introduce the IASA Technical Committee and its projects especially the recently published TC 06 (Guidelines for the Preservation of Video Recordings), current and planned work on TC 07 (Guidelines in the Preservation of Born Digital Video), the need for and impact of IASA TC publications in the global community and how to get involved with the TC and its projects. This will be followed by Q&A.
