Sound Heritage Today: Developing, Managing and Making Use of Sound Archives in a Context of Change, Glasgow, 8 & 9 May 2024

We hope that many of you will join us for Sound Heritage Today, the 2024 BISA annual gathering in Glasgow on 8 & 9 May 2024. We also want to make sure that this event meets the needs of the wider sound archive community. With this in mind, we have decided to develop the program a bit differently this year by asking colleagues from the wider sound archives sector a few questions.

From the rapid acceleration of digital developments, such as artificial intelligence, to perennial issues with funding, we know that we all face a range of challenges and opportunities today. We want to know which of these you see as priorities for us to address. Likewise, the programme requires a format appropriate to the task. This could include facilitated strategy workshops, practical skill sharing sessions, and/or something else entirely. We want to know what you think would work best. For such an approach to succeed, some of you will need to see this as an opportunity to get more involved in developing and delivering aspects of the programme. Maybe you have experience as a facilitator, existing training modules to share, or enthusiasm to organise evening entertainment that showcases sound collections. Let us know what you have to offer.
