Return to Audiovisual Legal Deposit register
In 1870, first LD law was set. All the way to present (in one way or another, more-less) National Library of Serbia collected LD. The latest Law on Legal Deposit dates from 2011.
During 1920s (20th Century) there was made a mistake in, at that moment current LDL, so only periodicals were proclaimed to be the subject of LDL, not books! In the Yugoslavia era, one of the most complete LDL was one that dates from 1971.
Gramophone records and photographs - 1965 LDL.
Current LDL refers to all publications that were issued by Serbian publishers in Serbia or foreign countries. AVM materials that are the subject of this law are:
photographs, post cards, graphics, AV recordings (no selection by media except film reels) and E publications (very generally explained as electronic resources).
This LDL for the first time recognizes E-Legal Deposit -National Library of Serbia and Matica srpska Library are deposit librariesfor all paper materials (books, periodicals, printed music, not sure about photographs or post cards....) in E-format (.pdf...). Publisher chooses if he would like to upload pdf files himself or via Legal deposit department of both deposit libraries. Legal deposit is a cultural heritage in Serbia.
Also, University Library Svetozar Markovic (Belgrade) is deposit library for academic materials - MA, Msc, phd thesis etc.
