IASA Award of Recognition - Pio Pellizzari

Pio Pellizzari is a musicologist and librarian with a vast record of scholarship of the musical heritage of Switzerland. He served as the director of the Swiss National Sound Archives in Lugano from 1998 until his retirement at the end of February 2019. He served as president of the Svizzera italiana section of the Swiss Music Research Society and is a long-standing board member of Memoriav, as well as a member of the board of trustees for the Swiss Dance Archive, Hallwyl Foundation, and the RSI Foundation for Cultural Heritage.

Regarding Pio’s service to IASA,

Pio Pellizzari served on the Executive Board of IASA for 5 terms, starting in 2005 and ending in 2020. From 2009 to 2016 he was chairman of the IASA Branch for Germany/Switzerland. As training and education has always been of great concern for Pio, he founded the IASA Training and Education Committee, for which he chaired for many years. In his last term on the IASA Executive Board, Pio took over for Kurt Deggeller as IASA and CCAAA’s UNESCO representative. This duty he continues to serve in his retirement.

Please join me in congratulating Pio Pellizzari as this year’s recipient of IASA’s Award of Recognition for his audiovisual training and education initiatives and tireless service to IASA.
