Open source media preservation prioritization software (Indiana University, collaboration with AVPreserve)

Indiana University announces the release of free, open source media preservation prioritization software created in collaboration with AVPreserve.

MediaSCORE (Media Selection: Condition, Obsolescence, and Risk Evaluation) enables a detailed analysis of degradation and obsolescence risk factors for most analog and physical digital audio and video formats.

MediaRIVERS (Media Research and Instructional Value Evaluation and Ranking System) guides a structured assessment of research and instructional value for media holdings.

Digitised copies from some of the early issues of the IASA journal and its predecessor, the IASA Phonographic Bulletin, are gradually being added to the IASA website and made available to all:

While probably not yet arriving at your door, the 44th issue of the IASA Journal is now available electronically for all IASA members via the IASA website. Just login and you will be able to access PDFs of each article as well as a PDF of the entire issue. The physical issues will make their arrival soon!

Preview of IASA Journal Issue 44

Over the past few months many of our IASA colleagues have been diligently preparing a new slate of articles that together will constitute the upcoming IASA Journal Issue 44, which will be delivered to your door in the next couple of weeks.

Among many excellent articles, this issue includes a special contribution by last year's conference keynote speaker, Mr. Verne Harris, of the Nelson Mandela Foundation in South Africa.
