The Carl Fleischhauer Award 2024 Recipient: Jiasui Ling

The IASA Executive Board is pleased to announce that Jiasui Ling is the 2024 recipient of the Carl Fleischhauer Award.

The Carl Fleischhauer Award was created to recognise Carl Fleischhauer's legacy of patience, persistence, and commitment to guiding the development and deployment of IASA preservation standards and best practices. The Award is given to individuals who embody these qualities by demonstrating a thoughtful and intentional commitment to advancing the dialogue of audiovisual preservation. The Award consists of a five-year IASA membership to support the recipient's learning, engagement, and professional development.

Jiasui Ling coordinates the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Library's efforts to institute a sound archive with the existing collection. Over the last few years, she has deepened the effort to coordinate with IASA by locally organising the IASA Preservation Training Programme and International Seminars provided and supported by IASA, especially the Training and Education Committee.

She has demonstrated an unequivocal willingness to adopt the highest standards in audiovisual preservation in a context that is not always very rewarding but is of considerable size.

From her actions, she regards IASA as a reference institution that will help her in her hard work of instituting the Sound Archive.

Funding for this award is generously provided by George Blood Audio/Video/Film/Data.

Please join in congratulating our colleagues and friends, Jiasui Ling and Carl Fleischhauer!
