The Association for Recorded Sound Collections invites proposals for presentations at its 46th annual conference, to be held May 16-19, 2012, in Rochester, New York.
ARSC welcomes papers on the preservation and study of sound recordings -- in all genres of music and speech, in all formats, and from all periods. We seek papers and panels that are informative, display a passion for their subjects, and include compelling audio and visual content.

BAAC (Baltic Audiovisual Archival Council) Annual Conference 2011: “DIGITAL ACCESS AND COPYRIGHT“
The registration for conference is now open. "Early bird" fee is valid until 27th of September 2011.
BAAC annual conference takes place this year in Tallinn, Estonia, October 6-8, 2011.
The Conference will be hosted by Estonian Film Archive, National Archives of Estonia and National Library of Estonia.

The James A. Lindner Prize for 2011 was announced on 5th September at the General Assembly of the IASA 2011 Annual Conference held in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
The Prize is awarded to an individual, group of individuals or an organization for research, which by its originality, breath and scope, is having or may have a major impact on the technology of preservation of moving images and recorded sound.

Congratulations to George Boston on receiving the 2011 IASA Award of Recognition, announced at the IASA Annual conference 2011 in Frankfurt.
Every organisation that wishes to remain vital, focused and relevant to its membership is in need of those individuals will fearlessly stand up, express the views and criticisms that so many of us silently keep to ourselves, and relentlessly check to see that their criticism has been noted. Without them the checks and balances which help us to stay on the right track, moving in the right direction, do not come into play, and we can lose our way for want of knowing the views of the members. But such an individual can only be taken seriously if they “do” as well as “say”; that the criticisms and comments they make are made credible by the things they have done. In the vernacular they should only talk the talk if they can walk the walk!
